Talent scouting and development in Helsinki
The RCD Espanyol academy in Finland continues to thrive
The RCD Espanyol de Barcelona's international network of academies is a key tool for talent development and identification worldwide. This week, David Sánchez, one of the club's youth football recruitment managers, visited the RCDE Academy Helsinki to learn firsthand about the progress of the project the club have been carrying out in Finland since 2019. The academy, run by Adriano Bujalance, an RCD Espanyol director who travelled from Barcelona, accompanied Sánchez throughout his visit.
During his stay in the Finnish capital, Sánchez was able to observe various training sessions, attend academy matches, and spend time with players, coaches, and families involved in the project. The visit confirmed the academy's significant potential and the excellent work being done using RCDE's training methodology.
The presence of the youth football recruitment department in international academies bolsters one of the RCDE Academy project's key differentiators: the identification of global talent. The model focuses on creating training environments where talent can grow, develop, and, in some cases, gain access to training experiences in Barcelona.
These visits strengthen the bond between academies in Barcelona and international academies, maintaining constant contact with local coaches and ensuring that the RCDE methodology continues to be applied with the highest standards of quality.
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona are committed to youth football and continue building bridges so that talent from around the world can develop under the club's identity and values.
