Restructure for La21
Four heads of department chosen to continue development
The New La21 Structure
It will be comprised of four pillars, each headed by: Javi Chica (La21 Football), Marc Pinyol (Recruitment), Àlex Garcia (Socio-educational), and Xavi Díaz (Sports Management).
A few months ago, the arrival of Marco Otero as the club's new Technical Director and Head of Football Development for the VSP Group was announced. Since then, he has been working on restructuring La21 to achieve its objectives. An organisational chart of four departments has been created:
La21 Football Department: Javi Chica will be in charge of this department. The former La21 player and coach will lead this with a top-level team. Javi Márquez will be the coordinator of 11-a-side football, and Toni Velamazán will continue as coordinator of 7-a-side football. This department will also be responsible for methodology, individual improvement work, conditioning (fitness preparation and injury prevention), and goalkeeper development.
Recruitment Department: Marc Pinyol will be responsible for and will supervise and coordinate the club's scouts, from the reserve team down to 7-a-side football.
Socio-educational Department: Àlex Garcia will oversee this department. The former player and family relations manager will continue to supervise the well-being of the children and their families. He will manage the Psychology department, headed by Jaume Sabater, and the Halls of Residence, directed by Ramon Guerrero.
Sports Management Department: Xavi Díaz will be in charge of this department. It encompasses the administration of youth football alongside Carles Casanova, head of Big Data and Analytics, as well as all aspects of Human Resources, Finance, IT, etc.
By distributing responsibilities across the four departments, the aim is to provide the structure with a clear and complementary operational framework.
The objective and focus will be on training talents of the future and helping them develop as individuals and athletes in an environment of the highest personal and professional demands, grounded in the values of RCD Espanyol and La21.
