RCD Espanyol welcome FC Santa Claus
The Finnish side visit Barcelona to strengthen ties between the two clubs
FC Santa Claus, a unique club from Rovaniemi, Finland, with more than 1,000 players on their books, recently visited the facilities of RCD Espanyol de Barcelona to learn firsthand how a professional LALIGA club operates.
The delegation from the Finnish side learned about the RCD Espanyol's training model and successful track record in grassroots football over the past 100 years. They were welcomed by Albert Saus, head of the club's international academies, who opened the door to future collaborations between the two entities.
RCD Espanyol already have an academy in Finland, in Helsinki, which has been running since June 2019.
Although Christmas is not yet here, representatives from FC Santa Claus presented RCD Espanyol with a scarf and a club shirt, a gesture that symbolises their shared passion for football and the desire to strengthen ties between projects with common values.
