RCD Espanyol strengthens its international project through RCDE Academy Shanghai
More than 500 boys and girls train every day under RCD Espanyol's methodology in one of the Club's most established international projects
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona continues to strengthen its international presence with the visit of Albert Saus, Football Programmes & Academies manager, to the RCDE Academy Shanghai, a project that this year celebrates seven years of continuous collaboration with the Chinese city.
Since its launch in 2019, the academy has established itself as one of the Club's most important international projects, bringing RCD Espanyol's methodology, values and football identity to hundreds of young players while strengthening the connection between Barcelona and Shanghai through sport.
The visit confirmed the academy's excellent sporting and organisational progress, while also recognising the outstanding work carried out by the local partner, Academy Director Víctor Estavillo and the entire coaching staff. They remain in constant contact with the Club and receive ongoing training and support from Barcelona to ensure that RCD Espanyol's methodology is implemented consistently and to the highest standards.
This continuous exchange of knowledge has been one of the key drivers behind the academy's sustained growth, helping to build a strong development model fully aligned with the Club's sporting philosophy and educational values.
Today, more than 500 boys and girls wear the blue and white shirt every day during training sessions in Shanghai, reflecting the strong presence and growing recognition that RCD Espanyol has achieved in China. The academy has become a benchmark for youth football development in the city, creating value for the Club, its local partner and the families involved in the project.
The visit also reaffirmed RCD Espanyol's commitment to its international development strategy and to continuing to strengthen a project that goes beyond football, building lasting connections between Barcelona and Shanghai through education, the transmission of values and a unique football methodology that continues to expand around the world.
