RCD Espanyol continue digital evolution
The club continue to advance in the use of technology in operations
The club continues to move forward with its innovation and digital transformation strategy with the launch of projects such as Perico ID, seats schemes, tickets and season tickets with NFC technology, the digitisation of access documents to stadium parking, the optimisation of the RCDE Stadium Tour purchase process, and the new multimedia content system. All these initiatives are aligned with the club's objectives of strengthening the relationship with fans, boosting efficiency, and enhancing its global positioning.
During this first part of the 2025/26 season, RCD Espanyol have implemented various technological improvements that reinforce a commitment to digitalisation and to a modern, connected, and innovative club model, in line with the strategic projects for the club's 125th anniversary, the 2030 World Cup, and business development.
Additionally, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona has been recognized by LALIGA as Digital Club of the Month, an acknowledgement that highlights the cross-departmental work behind the development and implementation of Perico ID, a key tool in the evolution of the Club’s digital ecosystem. This recognition reinforces the Club’s commitment to innovation, technological integration, and the construction of a solid, sustainable digital model designed to enhance user experience and strengthen the relationship with our fanbase.
In this context, the Club’s most prominent project is Perico ID, a Single Sign-On (SSO) system that unifies access to all digital platforms —app, website, EspanyolMEDIA, online store, ticketing, Stadium Tour and Experiences— under a single account. This omnichannel, agile and secure model streamlines digital processes, improves usability, and enables a deeper understanding of our supporters, reinforcing personalised communication and the connection with the global RCDE community.
Another new feature, developed in conjunction with the Marketing team, is the seat donation scheme, available to season ticket holders who cannot attend a first team match at the RCDE Stadium. This feature allows their seat to be given to the club for resale, facilitating attendance for other fans and benefiting the original season ticket holder when the time comes to renew their season ticket. It also includes a sales history and a record of accumulated balances.
The Member Services and Ticketing departments have introduced NFC-enabled tickets, an evolution of last season's digital membership cards. Thanks to this efficient and sustainable innovation, all attendees at the RCDE Stadium can access the venue with their ticket stored in their mobile device's Wallet, reducing waiting times and improving digital accessibility. More than 6,200 tickets have already been downloaded using this technology for home matches. Parking access documents for vehicles with spaces at the Espanyol facilities have also been digitised.
In collaboration with the RCD Espanyol Foundation, the ticket purchase process for the RCDE Stadium Tour has also been optimized, enhancing the user experience, developing new features, and boosting the commercial offering to explore the club's 125-year history and every corner of the magnificent stadium.
Finally, Espanyol have signed an agreement with ScorePlay, an AI-based platform that facilitates the management, tagging, and distribution of the club's audiovisual content. This tool improves the operations of the Communications team, sharing graphic and audiovisual material with professional staff, different areas of the club, media outlets, and sponsors in an automated and efficient manner.
All these initiatives are part of a global transformation process that involves all departments and reinforces the vision of RCD Espanyol de Barcelona as an entity prepared for the future, connected with business and institutional aspects, and placing the fan at the centre of the experience.
