RCD Espanyol training model used as example at CFA Coaches Congress in China
RCD Espanyol are synonymous with success in youth football, and a point of reference at both a national and international level. The data shows that we are one of the LaLiga clubs with the highest percentage of players in the first team to have come up from the academy.
This has not gone unnoticed by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and LaLiga, who have chosen our club as a success story at the National Coaches Congress held in Guangzhou. More than 500 Chinese coaches, in the process of renewing their official license, attended this event to learn from the best.
Representing RCD Espanyol in this forum was Gerard Bofill, the club's youth football methodology manager. During his presentation, Bofill shared some of the keys to this success:
-A clear and sustained identity over time
-Our own methodology, transversal to all teams
-A brave and real commitment to homegrown talent, working every day to develop the potential of our players
On behalf of LaLiga, Juan Florit provided specific data on minutes played by youth players, their market value and the evolution of key indicators within LaLiga's Youth Plan. RCD Espanyol stand out as one of the clubs with the best performance in all these metrics.
Espanyol represented LaLiga, whilst Aston Villa did likewise for the Premier League, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt from the Bundesliga.
Our commitment is to continue working so that our training model, both in Barcelona and in international academies, continues to be a benchmark of quality and a real opportunity for new generations of footballers.
