Monchi reviews the current transfer market situation
The head of the sporting directorate also speaks positively of the last two performances
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona General Sporting Director, Monchi, reviewed the latest developments for the first team and the transfer market when speaking to the media this Wednesday.
“Any more signings depend on any departures that may happen before the end of the transfer window. There could be movement in terms of covering another position, but there would have to be another player leaving for that to happen," he explained.
Regarding potential signings, he commented that the club continue to work on finding the profile that best suits the team’s needs.
“We’ve made a lot of enquiries, but I’m not one to name names. We’re looking for the player who suits us best. I’d rather us take a little longer, but make sure they fit what we need."
Monchi also spoke positively about the start of the LaLiga campaign, analysing that “We were pleased with what we did for 70 minutes in Coventry, and against Levante we carried that over, making it a complete performance. We saw a team that knew what they wanted to do and showed defensive solidity."
“Our first game was one to be happy about, but it’s already in the past. On Saturday, we have a difficult game against one of the best teams in the world, in Real Madrid. We have to compete in the best possible way to make sure the three points stay with us."
