Marco Otero appointed as Technical Director
RCD Espanyol have appointed Marco Otero as the club's Technical Director. In this role, Otero will be responsible for overseeing the player development strategy and training methodologies within RCD Espanyol's youth system, ensuring alignment between youth football and the club's long-term sporting vision. He will also lead the design and implementation of technical programs, youth talent recruitment processes, and training frameworks that support the progression of players towards professional football and the first team.
Otero will work closely with Sporting Director Fran Garagarza, strengthening the connection between youth football and the first team. This will significantly reinforce the club's commitment to developing a pool of young talent to support the senior squad.
Simultaneously, Otero has been appointed Head of Football Development for the VSP Group. In this role, he will oversee player development and the progression pathways of young talent across the group, promoting the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and integrated training structures among clubs.
Otero brings extensive experience in developing young talent, having served as technical director of the Valencia CF academy, technical director at Olympique de Marseille, and High Performance Specialist for FIFA's Talent Development Programme. His experience, leadership, and vision will be a great asset to RCD Espanyol and the VSP Group.
