Benjamin Lecomte was officially presented as a new RCD Espanyol player on Thursday, and spoke in a press conference at the event. In it, he confirmed his interest in joining the club had come since the moment he heard of their interest in him.
The French goalkeeper said that “I am very happy to be here and I am going to give everything to have a good season. Ever since I found out about this interest, I wanted to sign for Espanyol, in order to progress in my career. For me, having this possibility was key to my decision."
"I have progressed a lot in these past few years, and I have to thank Espanyol for showing this confidence in me. This is a great club in LaLiga. It is not a springboard, but rather a chance to show my ability."
Mao Ye, CEO of RCD Espanyol, thanked Lecomte for signing and stated that "I hope you contribute a lot to us this season." Domingo Catoira, sporting director, also praised the player, calling him "a great professional, a goalkeeper with extensive experience. We thank him for his effort and patience."
