La21 named amongst Europe's best academies in CIES Football Observatory study
The RCD Espanyol youth system ranks seventeenth for the last year
The RCD Espanyol de Barcelona youth system, La21, continues to be a benchmark for the development of young players. In the rigorous analysis of European football conducted by the prestigious CIES Football Observatory, one of the world's most respected centres for statistical and analytical research, the academy remains a standout.
La21 appears in a new CIES Football Observatory study, in Weekly Post 529, which examines clubs whose youth academies have contributed the most players to elite football.
The results reflect the excellent work carried out year after year. Espanyol appear in the European Top 20 (in seventeenth position) of academies that have contributed the most players to the top leagues in continental football this season, ahead of clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich. In terms of the last ten years, Espanyol rank nineteenth in Europe.
The continued presence in high-value publications and studies such as those of the CIES Football Observatory demonstrates the strength of the club's sporting project and sustainable growth.
