Gorosabel: “Espanyol always compete”

Andoni Gorosabel highlights his desire to succeed at the RCDE Stadium

Andoni Gorosabel spoke to the media as he was officially presented as a new Espanyol player, preceded by sporting director Monchi -who expressed a few words about the new arrival.

“One of the pieces we might have been missing in the squad was at right-back, with Rubén Sánchez leaving. Andoni’s name was on the table. He has many qualities and experience in the top flight. He doesn’t need time to adapt and he has also shown us how eager he is," said Monchi.

Gorosabel himself expressed his keenness to begin this new spell as an Espanyol player.

“It’s a change that I’m approaching with excitement and a desire to do well, to get to know the club and the fans. Espanyol excited me, as there’s a good team here, and the decision was a quick one to make."

After his first few days at the club, the defender is already working towards being able to help the team.

“The first thing is to get up to speed as soon as possible and, when the coach sees that I’m ready, start contributing. The dressing room has welcomed me very well. Manolo is a coach who is very close to the players, he helps you a lot and makes you improve."

Finally, Gorosabel outlined the objectives for the season.

“Espanyol compete in every game and are strong at home. The first objective is to stay up and improve on last season. Anything we achieve beyond that will be positive. We have a good squad and, on a personal level, I also want to have a good season and help the team”.
