González: "We were close to equalising"

The coach laments that “the game slipped away” in the derby

Manolo González assessed the derby loss against FC Barcelona with the feeling that his team did enough to take something from the match.

“I have the feeling we could have picked up points; we had the game within reach. And we end up leaving with a defeat. It’s a shame because the team competed and went into the final stages with options. We were close to equalising. It’s unfortunate that it got away from us like this.”

The coach also noted that “at certain moments we lost our duels. In a game of this level you have to go all out in every situation. From that point on, we were close to equalising, but you can’t make those mistakes in a match like this.” 

“We had the derby where we wanted it; we were in the game. It was a match marked by a lack of decisiveness in the duels.”
