González: “Winning is always important”

Manolo González highlighted the team’s hard work in their victory over Levante UD

Manolo González spoke after RCD Espanyol de Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Levante UD at the RCDE Stadium, in a post-match press conference.

“We’re happy because it was a difficult game. The team played well and we controlled play. It was important to win at home," he told journalists.

“We do need to get into the habit of attacking more calmly. We had talked about the situation that led to us making it 2-0, and that’s where the goal came from. The team put in a huge effort, but we had a great game overall.”

For González, the victory also has special significance because it came in front of the RCD Espanyol faithful.

“Winning is always important. That's even more so when it’s at home, in front of our fans. It helps us grow mentally and improve. It was important to start off with a win.”

Finally, the coach stated that the team still has plenty of room for growth and highlighted their competitive ability.

“If we’re playing well, we’re capable of competing with anyone. That doesn’t mean we’re going to win all the time, because a lot of things can happen. There’s still a long way to go this season.”
