García: "We will need to have a perfect game"
The interim coach previews the game against Villarreal CF
Sergio García will be in charge of the Espanyol first team this Friday, coaching the side on an interim basis for the match against Villarreal CF, whilst new full-time coach Eder Sarabia serves a suspension.
He spoke to journalists on Thursday about the preparations for the game.
“I’m convinced that we must take all three points tomorrow. We are facing opponents with great players, but I have faith in our squad, and I hope we can get the very best out of them,” he noted.
“We will need to have an almost perfect game. We must all stay united to make things uncomfortable for them. The squad are capable of turning this situation around. Everyone is eager to secure the three points, and it’s time to lift ourselves back up.”
García explained that, due to a congested schedule, he has not had much time to work with the first team.
“In speaking with the players, I’ve seen a real hunger. As for me? I’m excited. I can’t wait for the game to arrive. I trust in the players and am thrilled to be part of this, though I’m also well aware that the demands will be at their highest. I work with the B team every day to ensure things are done right and to help players progress. My goal has always been to keep moving up the coaching ladder, and here I am now. I’m going to give everything for this club. I’m truly excited.”
