The reserve team overcome Calamocha at home

Espanyol B put on a footballing masterclass in their first home game of the season, winning 5-0 against newly promoted Calamocha.

Sergio García’s side started out by playing boldly in attack, and the opening goal arrived after just three minutes. Mulle capitalised on a fine ball played out from the defence, finishing from the edge of the box with a shot tucked inside the base of the post.

Espanyol wanted more, and in the fifth minute, Eloi Tost only just missed a chance to make it 2-0. Chances kept coming, though the second goal took a while to materialise. It finally arrived in the 43rd minute: Hugo Crespo pounced on a rebound in the heart of the area and blasted the ball into the net.

Before halftime, there was still time for a third goal, scored by Alejandro Santiago after he latched onto an excellent pass from Mulle.

The second half began just like the first, with another goal. Alejandro Santiago was on target to effectively seal the win.

The team were hungry for more and deserved a fifth goal, which finally arrived near the end thanks to a long-range strike from Thomas Dean that flew right into the top corner.

Calamocha offered little in attack; their most notable moment was a chance thwarted by Llorenç when the score was 2-0.

For the rest of the match, RCD Espanyol B showed defensive solidity and a constant attacking threat. It was a perfect home debut, with a big win and the top spot in the standings.
