Urko González: “We work hard every day"
Urko González de Zárate highlights the team’s competitiveness and is focused on Sunday’s match against Levante
Urko González de Zárate has made seven consecutive starts in LaLiga for RCD Espanyol, and is on a run of excellent form. He spoke to the media ahead of this weekend's game against Levante UD, and assessed the way the campaign is going.
“I'm playing a lot of minutes, and that helps a player a lot. The more you play, the more your confidence grows, and I'm very happy. From day one, I've felt very comfortable here. The team and the staff have welcomed me warmly and made me feel important. I'm happy here and I'm enjoying my football," he explained.
He also highlighted the coach's role in the team's progress.
“We work hard every day, and we're very clear on what Manolo asks of us. We're all pulling in the same direction, and the results are going our way. He's very important in that; he knows a lot about football, manages the team very well, has clear ideas, and inspires us all.”
Regarding the team's collective performance, the midfielder spoke of their priorities.
“Our objective is very clear: to reach 42 points as soon as possible -and from there continue competing and keep doing what we're doing, which is going very well for us.”
After the losing effort in the derby against FC Barcelona last weekend, the squad are focused on Sunday's 4:15 p.m. kickoff at the Ciutat de València stadium, which closes the first half of the season.
“This is LaLiga and every match is difficult. We're going to compete as we always do. If we compete and play well, I'm convinced we can bring home the three points. Every match is hard-fought. Levante are a very good team. We have to give it our all to get the victory.”
