Trio officially presented as RCD Espanyol signings
Romero, Dimitrovic and García talk about their joining the club
Three summer signings for RCD Espanyol were officially presented this Thursday, giving them a chance to express their pleasure with their latest moves. Marko Dimitrovic, Carlos Romero and Kike Garcia were able to speak for the first time since their joining the club.
“I wanted to come back. I was very happy last year. I enjoyed the campaign a lot, and returning here became my priority. I'm delighted to be back at Espanyol. I want to enjoy it, continue growing, and I know I still have a lot to learn,” said Romero, who has been granted a second loan spell at the club from Villarreal CF.
García, a veteran of many top flight outfits, added that “I know I'm at a big LaLiga club, and I'm coming here eager to do well, for everything to go our way, to show that we have a good team and that we can achieve our goals. We're going to give it our all… Everything came together, I felt I could be an important player here, and that's what made me decide,” he summarised.
Goalkeeper Dmitrović told the media that “All the circumstances were right, and we reached an agreement very quickly. RCD Espanyol and I had the same desires for next season. I'm very excited about this new project. I'm going to give everything I have to contribute and ensure we have many successes next year. I'm not here to replace (former goalkeeper) Joan García, but rather to give my best and help the team so we can be very happy at the end of the season.”
The club's Sporting Director, Fran Garagarza, explained that “seeing Carlos Romero's growth last year, we wanted to look for the opportunity for a new loan deal with Villarreal, and it was possible to do that. We have a lot of faith in him. Marko Dmitrović had been maintaining an upward trajectory since he was at Eibar and became our first choice for the goalkeeping position. A favorable situation arose for Espanyol, and he will bring his personality, character, and maturity to our team. Kike García is a player who has become a specialist in his position over the years. Add to that his honesty, dedication, and human qualities, and he's a top signing for us."
