The Bond. Companions for Life
The third episode of CLOSER is released this Thursday
The third episode of CLOSER, titled “The Bond", explores one of the deepest and most sincere connections in people's lives: the relationship with the animals that are part of our families.
Through three personal stories, this episode shows us how these companions become a source of emotional support, refuge, and well-being, even in the most difficult times.
The first story focuses on Jofre Carreras and Stone, his inseparable companion. In a natural, everyday setting, during a walk in the mountains, we discover how this bond has been key for the player in his grieving process after the loss of his parents. It has become a silent but profoundly healing connection.
The second story looks at the club's 'Pericos Don't Abandon' campaign. Leandro Cabrera shares the story of his meeting Balto, an adopted dog who arrived at a particularly sensitive time for the player. Having recently lost his previous pet, Cabrera found a new opportunity to give and receive affection. The episode also captures the emotional moment when Balto ran onto the pitch, as well as his reunion with his other siblings adopted by other Espanyol families.
Finally, two players from the women's first team, Naima García and Laia Ballesté, share their daily lives living together with their dogs. This combines the demands of elite sports with the responsibility of caring for pets. The episode shows how they organise their routine, how the animals interact with each other, and what solutions they find when they have to travel for games.
“CLOSER: The Bond” is an intimate portrait of love, companionship, and responsibility. A perspective that reinforces the message that these life companions are not only by our side, but are an essential part of who we are.
