Roberto Fernández debuts for Spain
The striker features in the win over Czechia
Roberto Fernández became the 49th player in Espanyol's history to make his debut for the Spanish national team while at the club, featuring in the 3-1 win over Czechia.
The Andalusian forward showed great work rate and a selfless attitude in both attack and defence, as well as playing an active role in the national team's second goal. He also fired a dangerous shot wide early in the second half.
Roberto follows in the footsteps of Joselu, the last Perico to represent Spain, back in 2023. His debut came during the third match of an international calendar featuring four games in just 16 days: against England, Croatia, Czechia, and Croatia again next Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Vanja Drkušić made his third consecutive start for Slovenia in the third game of the UEFA Nations League. The centre back played 45 minutes in the loss to Switzerland (2-1), having previously played against Scotland (0-0) and in the victory over North Macedonia (2-0).
