R.I.P. Alex Manninger

Former goalkeeper Alexander Manninger has died aged 48. 

Manninger enjoyed a long and successful career that began at Grazer AZ. At 19, he was signed by Arsenal, and in the summer of 2002, at 25, he joined Espanyol. However, during preseason, he had to leave the club due to contractual issues and began a long spell in Italian football, playing for teams such as Torino, Bologna, Siena, and Juventus, before moving to Augsburg and eventually, at 39, joining Liverpool -although he never made an appearance for the Reds before his retirement.
