RCDE Stadium experience for those with deafblindness
The club provide an initiative for ONCE Catalunya members
The RCDE Stadium opened its doors on Monday to a group of deafblind individuals from ONCE Catalunya organisation in a very special event commemorating the International Day for Deafblind People.
A total of 70 ONCE members, accompanied by their guides, interpreters, and mediators, were able to discover various emblematic places at RCD Espanyol's home stadium through a guided tour organised by the RCDE Foundation, specially adapted to their needs.
During the tour, the participants had the opportunity to walk around, touch, and experience some of the stadium's most representative areas firsthand, such as the pitch, the dressing rooms, the press room, and the stands.
This initiative, promoted by ONCE Catalunya, aims to raise awareness of deafblindness and reinforce the commitment to accessibility and inclusion. It was adapted to the different profiles of the participants, as deafblindness presents very diverse realities: From people with no remaining sight or hearing to others with partial abilities.
Arrival at the stadium was via the TMB Solidarity Bus, and once at the RCDE Stadium, the participants were divided into groups to facilitate a more intimate and personalised experience.
Enric Botí, delegate of ONCE Catalunya, expressed his gratitude for the club's collaboration: "We thank RCD Espanyol for making this visit possible. It's a unique experience for people with deafblindness. Enthusiasm, sport, overcoming challenges, and a sense of belonging are values we share," he explained.
With actions like this, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and the RCDE Foundation continue to demonstrate their commitment to social inclusion and accessibility, making the RCDE Stadium a space open to everyone and where the spirit of the club can be experienced in many ways.
