RCD Espanyol stands united against childhood cancer in a day full of emotion and commitment
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona experienced one of those unforgettable days this weekend. A match that began long before kick-off and went far beyond the final score.
It all started on Friday at the RCDE Stadium. Héctor, a lifelong Espanyol member and a brave fighter against cancer, fulfilled a dream by attending a first-team training session. His eyes, his smile and the emotion in every embrace reminded everyone that football truly matters when it creates moments like this. Héctor was not just a guest. He was one of us. His story was also present at Manolo González’s press conference, where his name was mentioned with deep respect and admiration.
On matchday, the message became visible to the entire stadium. Twenty-two children battling cancer walked onto the pitch at the RCDE Stadium hand in hand with the players of Espanyol and RC Celta de Vigo. Twenty-two stories of courage, twenty-two examples of resilience. An image that reminded us who the true heroes really are.
The Club would like to thank Celta for their sensitivity and collaboration in making this moment possible. Because when the cause truly matters, we all play on the same team.
The day was supported by organisations that stand by children and families during the most difficult journeys. Fundación Aladina, Casa Ronald McDonald Barcelona and Mil y un Sueños were part of this initiative that united sport and solidarity. Mil y un Sueños and Casa Ronald were represented in the hospitality area, while Aladina was present through Aramark, a key partner in the initiative.
In addition, solidarity bracelets were sold at the stadium bars for €1 in support of Fundación Aladina. A simple gesture, yet full of meaning. Every bracelet was an embrace, every euro a sign of support, every purchase a collective message: you are not alone.
RCD Espanyol once again shows that its fight does not end after ninety minutes. That its spirit goes beyond the pitch. And that when it comes to standing by those who need it most, this Club never fails.
