Quique De Lucas guests on 'Quan la pilota calla'
The former player appears in the latest episode
Former RCD Espanyol player Quique de Lucas had a long career in professional football, turning out for nine different professional teams in three countries, reaching almost 500 matches in thirteen official competitions and scoring 78 goals.
Now a TV commentator, agent and regular on football talk shows in Spain, he has also received qualifications in radiology and economics and business administration.
From his time with Espanyol, he fondly remembers the legendary 1998 Intertoto Cup, which he describes as “a turning point for many of us”, and the 2000 Copa del Rey. He recalls that those squads were “made up of friends, above all else. That's why we felt unstoppable and we were all on the same page. Before, it was more difficult to get opportunities with the first team at 18 or 19. We were able to make that mark.”
“Nowadays, it seems leagues no longer want 30-year-old players. Now they prefer very young guys for whom they pay a lot of money. It's almost impossible for a small team to grow because there are so many financial limitations,” adds the former midfielder
This new episode of the podcast ‘Quan la pilota calla’, featuring De Lucas, can be heard first on Espanyol Media's OTT platform after registration, and 24 hours later, it will be available on all official RCD Espanyol platforms (YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts).
