Match Report: 1-0 win keeps unbeaten start going
RCD Espanyol claim victory at home against CA Osasuna
RCD Espanyol continued their positive start to the 2025/26 season with a 1-0 triumph against CA Osasuna, following up on their solid showings against Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad. Carlos Romero scored the only goal of the game, to earn Los Pericos all three points at the RCDE Stadium.
Before kickoff, the team received the good news that all of the squad had been registered to play.
Manolo González demanded intensity from his men to match what was expected of Osasuna, both in terms of the duels and in their approach to play.
Kike García, making his debut as a starter since joining the club in the summer, had a clear opportunity after a good pass from Pere Milla. RCD Espanyol continued to push, offering some interesting moves going forward. García worked hard and created chances for his teammates as well.
Pere Milla, back in the starting lineup and an early hero this season, tried his luck with a long-range shot that was saved by Sergio Herrera. Shortly after, it was Garcia who missed out from a clear chance.
Javi Puado had a pair of efforts from difficult positions, which failed to trouble the opposition goalkeeper.
Osasuna finally switched on, nearly benefitting from one of Espanyol's few defensive lapses. Ante Budimir collected a ball from the edge of the box, then shot for Marko Dmitrović to parry. There was also a sigh of relief when the post denied Jon Moncayola a goal from an Osasuna free kick.
Espanyol came out well after the break, and were more focused, better positioned, and with a very firm mentality. Pere Milla pulled down a cross from Romero from the left, but his shot went slightly wide, as the chances began to mount.
Los Pericos created several opportunities until, thanks to the connection between Tyrhys Dolan and Omar El Hilali, created the only goal of the game, scored by Romero with a brilliant left-footed shot.
The score remained unchanged, and RCD Espanyol reaffirmed their impressive form heading into the international break.
