González: "I’m proud of the team despite the defeat"

Manolo González gave his post-match press conference after the 1-2 defeat against Real Madrid, and acknowledged that “I’m proud of the team despite the defeat. The team competed very well. It’s a pity. Our goal was a great goal, and we found some clear passing options. We had some good moments. We have to keep working; today there are more positives than negatives.”

The coach underlined: “The squad rallied and competed very well; we played very well for long stretches. We responded with good football, and I’m happy with the players. We have to be disappointed with the result, however; it has to serve us well for next Saturday, and we have to go out there and win against Real Sociedad.”

Finally, he also stated that “We still have a long way to go, but I’m happy with the things I saw from the team. We competed at a good level, and this has to help us grow. But we can’t be satisfied with this. It’s a shame that we conceded the goal in the 90th minute.”
