González: “We need to be self-critical”

The coach reviews the loss to Rayo Vallecano

Manolo González admitted that RCD Espanyol did not perform at the expected level in the first half of their match against Rayo Vallecano, speaking in his post-game press conference.

“We were very poor. You can’t single out any player for a positive assessment of the first half. We made three changes at half time, but we could have changed all eleven at the interval. We shouldn’t be unfair and single out just three players,” the coach explained.

The Espanyol coach did highlight the team’s response after the break, saying that “The second half was very good. We need to be self-critical -myself first and foremost- and compete well against Elche.”
