Fortuño: "These games help us find our rhythm"
The goalkeeper chats in the UK
Goalkeeper Ángel Fortuño, who started the friendly against Burnley, is enjoying the busy nature of RCD Espanyol’s preseason.
Speaking on the whirlwind summer tour of England for Los Pericos, he noted that the games "help us find our rhythm. We all like to win, but we also want to be in top shape for the first league match of the season, as that’s where it really counts."
The shotstopper emphasised that "we’ve only been preparing for two or three weeks, so these games are about getting minutes under our belts. The team are in good shape and confident that things will go well in 2026/27. You have to have faith in this squad."
Regarding his own future, Fortuño commented that "I’m very happy here and I want to succeed here. I work hard every day to give everything I have. I know we all want minutes and want to play, so I hope I can play here for my entire career."
He also highlighted the support he is receiving from the fans.
"It’s spectacular. They are the driving force of the club; without them, none of this would be possible. It’s a source of pride and motivation for us to be able to repay the support they give us."
