On the 23rd of December, 1997, the RCD Espanyol Foundation was born, with the aim of becoming a means through which to spread and promote a love of all things Espanyol.
As outlined in its statutes, its founding objectives were:
- Promote the history and spread the club's message.
- Facilitate the playing of sport, in particular football – in particular RCD Espanyol's grassroots program.
- It also aimed to foster, in a cultural and human sense, the rounded development of sport's enthusiast.
The foundation's initial endowment – which made its creation possible - was 60,000 euros, contributed by RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, S.A.D. From its inception, the Foundation has been independent, hence it operates under a financial model of self-funding.
For this to be successful, the Foundation relies on the contributions and donations of individual shareholders and corporate entities, as well as the fees of the numerous different types of members and partners.
La The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, and therefore its operations, structure, and financial framework is in accordance with the “Ley 05/2001” laid out on the 2nd May by the Private Foundations of Catalonia.
The RCD Espanyol Foundation is registered at the RCDE Stadium, Av. Baix Llobregat, 100 de Cornellà de Llobregat.
