Vanja Drkušić becomes Espanyol’s fifth signing

The Slovenian centre back joins the club on loan until 30 June 2027, with an option to buy

RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and Zenit St Petersburg have reached an agreement for the loan of Vanja Drkušić for the 2026/27 season. The deal includes an option to buy.

Drkušić has extensive experience in European football. He played in the youth academy at NK Krško and SC Heerenveen, where he made the step up to professional football. He subsequently played for Rende, Sochi, Zenit and Red Star Belgrade. His honours include a Russian League title and Super Cup, as well as a Serbian League title and Cup. He is also a full Slovenia international.
