Terrats: "We have to be clinical against Celta Vigo"
The midfielder speaks about the weekend's fixture
Whilst he knows he has to take things one day at a time and gain confidence, Ramón Terrats is delighted with his time at RCD Espanyol so far, and “very eager to keep growing.”
At the club he has supported since the day he was born, the midfielder has been impressed by things both on and off the pitch this season.
“I've always known that RCD Espanyol are a great club, but they also have some very approachable people; not only the players, but also the club staff. That makes things run smoothly.”
He acknowledges that, despite there being a large squad, “you have to earn everything through training, and it’s the coach who has to decide who plays and who doesn’t. I think that, in the end, we’ll all have our moments.”
Regarding the match against Sevilla this past Monday, he said that “we had a very good start. Then they dominated us a bit, but we remained calm, knowing we were doing things right, and in the end, we won. The team’s fighting spirit combined with the fans’ determination, and at home, you always feel that support from them.”
“We compete, we fight, we run. That’s what allows us to win. If we ever stop doing that, we won’t win. That’s our DNA.”
He also explained that coach Manolo González “is a very approachable person, and in the end, he demands a lot from us. He’s asked me to stay calm, have confidence, to take the ball and do what I know with it. He wants me to compete, to run, and to do the same as the rest of the players.”
Looking ahead to the match against Celta Vigo this weekend, he points out that they will be facing “a team with many young players who like to have the ball. They might be affected by playing in two competitions this week, but we have to compete at our best, win duels, and be clinical in the penalty area.”
