Terrats, Rubio and Salinas given official unveiling
The signings talk about their desire to succeed at RCD Espanyol
A further three RCD Espanyol players received their official presentations on Friday, as Ramón Terrats, Miguel Rubio and José Salinas took centre stage.
For Terrats in particular, it was an emotional moment, as the lifelong Perico soaked in a boyhood dream coming true.
“I have to thank my family, because they made me a RCD Espanyol member from the day I was born, and it's thanks to them I can be here today,” he said, fighting back the emotion.
It's an inexplicable source of pride. You have to experience it and feel it. Being here is an explosion of passion, energy, and pride. I think I had earned the right to choose where I wanted to be, because if you don't perform on the pitch, everything else is secondary. My dream has always been to wear the Espanyol shirt. It's a very special moment for my entire family.”
Terrats continued by saying "I've often imagined my debut for the club, but I see myself listening to the club anthem and being emotional. My name had been mentioned before as a possible signing, but it wasn't a real option then. This year it was. From day one, the club made it clear to me that they wanted me to be here.”
Asked if he would like to wear the number 21, he added, “It would be an honour, but the club decides. And I say this with all due respect to Dani Jarque and what he represents.”
Sporting director Fran Garagarza said of the Catalan midfielder: “He's a player who will give us many options. He's on an upward trajectory, and we were very clear from the start about strengthening this squad."
Miguel Rubio described his signing as "a very beautiful, very exciting stage that lies ahead. I'm at a great club, with great fans and a spectacular stadium, so my goal is to continue growing as a footballer."
"There's competition for places, but that's good. The season is very long, and I'll have to work hard to take advantage of my opportunity when it comes."
Garagarza emphasised that “we were already interested in Rubio last season. We've followed him all year, and now it's been possible to sign him. He should bring us experience and he has a great capacity for growth.”
On Salinas, he said that "He has the ability to adapt. We've moved very quickly to sign a player who has a great track record and a desire to grow. He's a very clear profile of what we want. He's a signing for today and tomorrow, who should give us stability."
The former Elche player himself acknowledged that, since his arrival, "I've felt there's that special feeling. That's why I think I'll continue to grow professionally here. I hope to help the team achieve its aims."
"For someone new to the team, it's important to be welcomed, and the squad have been spectacular. The coach has treated me very warmly. I see a very united and healthy group here."
"This will be my first year as part of a Primera División squad. I feel prepared and eager."
