Salinas: "We're focused on Mallorca now"
The defender looks ahead to the return to LaLiga action
RCD Espanyol return to action in LaLiga with a Monday night fixture against RCD Mallorca, and fullback José Salinas talked on Wednesday about his eagerness to get back playing.
Until now, he hadn't been able to experience an international break, and he explained that "I like to always be competing, but these days are a good chance to be with your family -although your mind is always focused on the week ahead."
"We're focused on Mallorca now, and coming into that game in the best possible condition. Despite the good results at the start of the season, we have our feet on the ground. The past is the past and it has to serve to boost our morale. We have to focus, and we're working on that this week to go into the next game at full strength and go for the three points."
Salinas acknowledged that, with only three games played, the current assessment of Mallorca "is a bit of a false one, because they've already faced Barcelona and Real Madrid. They're a great team and they already showed that last year. I think they'll come here looking for the win. We have to be ready to be at our best."
Finally, he emphasised that the fans "have pleasantly surprised me. They'd been spoken of very highly to me, but in the first game I was on the sidelines, warming up, and we scored the first goal. I said that we'd definitely score a second when I felt their presence. I encourage them to continue by our side with that passion and faith they have, because together we'll achieve great things."
