Roberto targets win over Alavés as "best medicine"
The striker wants RCD Espanyol to put misfortune behind them with a win on Friday
RCD Espanyol have a relatively quick turnaround after their harsh defeat at the hands of Valencia CF, as they face Deportivo Alavés on Friday night in LaLiga. Striker Roberto Fernández is one of those focused on returning to winning ways, as he explained in conversation with Espanyol Media on Tuesday following training.
"We're improving every day, but we haven't forgotten what happened in the last game -so we want to redeem ourselves with a win," he stated.
The forward ackowledgeded that the result against Valencia CF on the road "still stings a bit" due to some decisive refereeing decisions, but "that's in the past now, and we have to focus on getting the three points against Alavés, in front of our home fans."
"That anger what we feel needs to be channelled into our performance in the next game. We have to give it our all, leaving everything out there on the pitch, to turn this situation around and get back to the results we achieved in December."
He says he expects “a very physical match” against the Basque side, and recalls that “they made it very difficult for us in the reverse fixture this season. However, with the support of our fans and our desire to prove ourselves, the rewards will come. The best medicine is to get the three points, in front of our fans, and keep moving forward.”
