Riedel: "We hope to win a lot of games at the RCDE Stadium"
The defender talks to Espanyol Media
Ahead of his second season at RCD Espanyol, defender Clemens Riedel has the luxury of a full preseason in 2026. The German spoke after training on Tuesday to give his thoughts on the summer so far.
"We’re working in very hot weather here in Spain, whereas the temperatures in England were better for training. We also spent a lot of time together there, which was good," he explained.
"The two friendlies in England went okay, more or less: We scored a lot of goals -three against Boro and two against Burnley- but for me, as a defender, it wasn't great."
He also expressed that the fact that the last two opponents were English teams, demanding a high level of intensity, was a positive.
Riedel is making progress with the language, and revealed that "I’m trying to speak a lot more Spanish. I think I’m doing better now than in the first few months of last year."
The final friendly for the squad awaits this Saturday, and the German commented that "I hope we can win it. After that, we’ll have one week left before the LaLiga season starts, and I hope we can beat Levante on Matchday 1 as well. Throughout the season, we hope to win a lot of games at the RCDE stadium, with the support of our fans and the atmosphere created at the ground."
