Riedel: "My adaptation is going well"
The defender talks after his initial games in LaLiga
Clemens Riedel made a big step up this summer by leaving German second tier outfit Darmstadt 98 for RCD Espanyol and LaLiga, but the centre back has risen to the challenge so far.
The towering defender spoke to Espanyol Media during the international break to reflect on his first months at the club and in Spain.
"My adaptation is going well. It's not always easy because my teammates speak a lot to me in Spanish, but I have to learn the language, and I feel very good,” he said this week.
“It’s been a pleasure to be able to play in the last three league matches. There are some differences between German football and the Spanish game, as here the players are better technically, and in Germany there's more intensity and strength involved, because you find bigger players there. I used to go up against forwards who were almost two metres tall."
He acknowledged that "we're playing good football, with very good home performances, creating many chances. I think we have to continue like this, but we have to improve in order to avoid conceding so many goals. We have to keep working on that."
