RCD Espanyol meet with CTA
The club converse with Spain's refereeing committee
On Tuesday, a delegation from RCD Espanyol, comprised of board members Mao Ye and Antonio Dávila, along with first-team delegate Guillem Calzón, met with several representatives of the Spanish refereeing committee (CTA) at their headquarters, to express their dissatisfaction with recent decisions that have gone against the team during games.
The RCD Espanyol delegation requested explanations regarding specific incidents that have occurred, and called on the refereeing body to standardise their criteria in light of the inconsistent application of the rules. They also expressed concern about the use of VAR, a tool designed to facilitate the proper flow of the game, which, in matches like last Saturday's match against Valencia CF, is not contributing to improving refereeing decisions or making them easier.
The club trust that the CTA will continue to work towards greater precision in decision-making and ensure that VAR is a truly useful tool in the service of sporting justice and the smooth running of the competition.
