Puado: "We're facing Real Madrid with the utmost confidence"
The striker explains his happiness with the start to the season
Ready to face league leaders Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, Javi Puado knows that RCD Espanyol will have to have a perfect performance if they are to take victory on Saturday afternoon.
The forward acknowledged on Thursday that "we're only four matches into the campaign. We've started very well, but we have to keep going. There's still a long way to go; this is a long season, and we have to take it slow and steady -because it’s only at the end of the season that we'll see where we end up."
On Real Madrid, Puado commented that: "They're a very tough side to play, and it's very difficult to beat them away from home. Last year we were able to do it at our home ground, and that's why we're going there with all the desire in the world. We're coming into this one with a good dynamic, and we'll have a chance if we have a perfect performance."
For the skipper, “a good start spreads a strong message to everyone. The new signings are helping a lot, and the team were able to have a good preseason. We have a good squad and are in good form. Sometimes in football, you have streaks and different kinds of luck, and I think we have to take advantage of that now. We don't have to get carried away because we're only four games in, but we do have to be aware that, if we've been able to do it so far, we can continue to do so. We have to draw on this spirit to make it a good year.”
“Playing at the Bernabéu against the best players in the world is always difficult. It all comes down to us having a flawless performance and them not having their best day, but we can do it. We're going into it with the utmost confidence after the results we've been getting.”
