Puado renews through to 2030
RCD Espanyol and the club captain reach an agreement to extend his contract for cinc seasons
RCD Espanyol and Javi Puado will remain together for a further four seasons, as the two parties have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract until June 30th, 2030.
The news is welcomed by fans, the club and the player alike. Eleven years have passed since Puado joined RCD Espanyol's youth system from UE Cornellà. In September 2016, on his debut with the reserve team in Segunda B, he suffered a serious knee injury, from which he recovered with patience, sacrifice, and effort.
In August 2018, he made his first team debut under coach Joan Francesc Ferrer "Rubi." His first goal came in the Copa del Rey against Cádiz in the Round of 32 on November 1st of that year, while his first LALIGA strike was on December 11, 2021, with a brace against Levante UD.
A loan move to Real Zaragoza was key to his subsequent breakthrough upon his return.
An Olympic silver medalist and full international for Spain, Puado is also coming off an excellent season upon his return to the Primera División. After being the star of the promotion campaign the previous year with his two goals in the playoff final against Real Oviedo, he went on to achieve his best scoring tally with 12 goals in 2024/25, netting in the crucial match against UD Las Palmas and even scoring a hat trick against Deportivo Alavés.
With over 200 official appearances for RCD Espanyol, Puado is also the club's all-time top scorer at the RCDE Stadium, ahead of legends like Sergio García and Raul de Tomas. He has scored 32 times at the ground and will have the opportunity to continue adding to his record in the coming seasons.
