Puado on the comeback trail
The forward continues recovery work after his knee injury
Javi Puado has spent almost six weeks on the sidelines, and is looking to a return to action following the international break. The forward was injured on October 8th, hurting his knee during a training session, and since then has followed a meticulously planned regimen for his recovery with rehabilitation specialist Toni Pajuelo.
His current routine features specific work to prevent muscle loss in his legs, followed by exercises with state-of-the-art machines that aid and accelerate his recovery. The workload, minutes, intensity and rest periods are set out in advance, with Puado saying that “I have more training sessions than there are days in the week."
The captain also offers his own analysis of the last few matches for RCD Espanyol, which has seen two consecutive defeats in LaLiga.
“The loss to Villarreal wasn't entirely fair, but we were up against a very good team. I don't think we were playing so badly that we deserved to lose 0-2. Now we're on international break and we'll have another chance against Sevilla, in what is a big game,” he says.
"We want to get back to winning ways. We're in good spirits, and so are the fans; we're all together. I think it will be a good season for us."
