Moscardo: "I feel ready"
Gabriel Moscardo believes Espanyol is the perfect club at which to grow
After his signing for RCD Espanyol was made official, new addition to the squad Gabriel Moscardo had his official presentation on Thursday.
"I’ve played in Brazil, France and Portugal, and I hope things will go even better here. My goal is to help the team at all times and fight for the full 90 minutes in every game. I want to give the fans everything they expect from me. I feel ready”, he said during his official unveiling.
After completing his first training session with his new teammates in the morning, he commented that “There are a lot of quality players here. You can tell it’s a great team, and we’ll do everything we can to compete for ambitious goals. I can’t wait to play my first game."
He also explained that “one of the things that impressed me most was the size of the club. And when someone like Monchi contacts you and shares his optimism and confidence in you, it makes the decision much easier”.
Joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian midfielder underlined that “I’m 100% focused on Espanyol. I’m 20 years old and I want to keep learning every day. In Brazil, at 17, I learned to play with personality. In France, I experienced a more physical style of football, and in Portugal I also played alongside Spanish players”.
"This is a great club, with fantastic supporters and a magnificent stadium. That motivates me and makes me very happy. I’m really looking forward to playing in such a wonderful stadium”.
Sporting director Monchi explained that Moscardo “was one of our top priorities to strengthen the midfield. We were looking for a versatile player, and Gabriel quickly became our first choice. He had bigger offers from other clubs, but his response to us was positive. We’re delighted to have him here and we’re confident he’ll perform in a way that matches his quality. He’s a much more mature player than the one who first arrived at PSG, and I’m sure his adaptation to Espanyol will be smooth."
