Minute's silence held before training
RCD Espanyol pay respects to Jesús de Miguel Alameda
At 10:30am on Tuesday, just before the first team’s training session began, the squad, coaching and medical staff, and the sporting department -led by Monchi- gathered in the centre of the pitch at the Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque to hold a minute of silence in memory of Jesús de Miguel Alameda, the Tenerife player who had passed away earlier that morning.
The forward was taken off the field of play on Sunday following a violent collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Onowo. The game was immediately halted, and he was rushed to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, where he passed away on Tuesday morning.
Among the RCD Espanyol players and staff, Álvaro González and Cala had shared a dressing room with Jesús de Miguel: The former during his brief stint at Tenerife -his final club before retiring in December 2025- and the latter during his time at Castellón, where they were teammates during the 2024/25 season.
The scheduled official presentation of Eder Sarabia as RCD Espanyol coach has been postponed until Wednesday as a result of the tragic event.
