Milla: "We've taken a step forward"
The game-winning goalscorer talks after his Matchday 1 heroics
Two goals from Pere Milla in RCD Espanyol’s last two LaLiga matches have attracted plenty of attention. The first came on the final day of the 2024/25 season, sealing the win against UD Las Palmas that confirmed the team’s survival. The second was last weekend, in the late win against Atletico Madrid).
The player himself talked this week to reflect on the achievement.
“I hadn't scored in a long time before that,” he said with a smile. “In any case, for me, the most important thing is how RCD Espanyol do. I’m satisfied with the goal and the victory, because we got three very important points against a great team, in front of our home fans.”
He explained that the team “have taken a step forward. It was important to start off by winning the first LaLiga match, and we're very happy to have achieved that. Now we’re going for the win against Real Sociedad.”
Milla asserted that this Sunday “we have a tough match. They'll make things very difficult for us, but we'll go for the win. The coach always says we have to get used to winning, and that's what we did in preseason and in the first match. So we'll also go for the win in the second match.”
