Match Report: 0-0 draw earns RCD Espanyol a point
The Matchday 32 game against Levante UD ends goalless
A tense Monday encounter between RCD Espanyol and Levante ended in a goalless draw at the RCDE Stadium.
Los Pericos were looking for a long-awaited first victory of 2026, whilst their opponents were trying to move closer to an escape from the relegation zone.
Both teams sought the three points with a common approach: Exploiting the other team’s weaknesses, with a complete focus on the game and an obsession with avoiding decisive errors.
Amidst alternating periods of possession, and attacks at both ends -such as Kike García not quite controlling a dangerous cross from Ngonge- two chances defined the first half for the home side: One from Terrats, which the Levante goalkeeper saved well, and another from Ngonge, which struck the post. Both, however, would not have stood due to offside calls.
The halftime break served as a chance to recover and refocus on a game plan that would be effective in attack and minimise any further looks on goal for the opposition.
The home team had a pair of chances in the opening minutes. The first fell to Pere Milla, who failed to connect cleanly with a long ball from Dmitrović. The second was a dangerous shot from Expósito that Ryan saved comfortably.
The game opened up in a period in which both teams accelerated with more will than skill, becoming a back-and-forth encounter without restraint.
As the match approached its final stages, the game's controversial moment arrived. Pol Lozano received two harsh yellow cards in less than a minute, having come on as a substitute just moments before. RCD Espanyol were reduced to 10 men for the closing minutes.
During the ensuing free kick, Dmitrovic made himself big to block from Etta Eyoung, producing a superb save with his left foot in the heart of the penalty area.
In stoppage time, Espanyol had a good chance when Roberto pounced on a ball delivered by Expósito, but headed wide. The last opportunity fell to Levante, however, with Carlos Álvarez firing a shot that Dmitrovic tipped onto the underside of the crossbar.
Next up for RCD Espanyol is another home game, as they welcome Real Madrid to the RCDE Stadium on Sunday night.
