Manolo González to continue at RCD Espanyol

The coach receives the complete backing of new sporting director Monchi

Manolo González will remain coach of RCD Espanyol until June 30th, 2027, as confirmed by the new sporting director, Monchi, and as stipulated in his contract following his successful season with the first team in 2025/26.

"He is the person in whom we will place all our trust. From the first time I spoke with him, he knew that my confidence in him was absolute. I have to be honest and say that this trust has only grown as I've gotten to know him better. He is the ideal person to continue building the Espanyol that I believe we all want," said Monchi this Tuesday.

González arrived at the club in the summer of 2023 to manage RCD Espanyol B, and in March 2024 replaced Luis Miguel Ramis as first-team coach, leading them to promotion to LaLiga via the playoffs.

The Galician coach, who has enjoyed a long career managing in various divisions, has established himself in the elite of professional football.

In the 2024/25 season, his first in the top flight, González led the team to safety in LaLiga with a record of 11 wins, 9 draws, and 18 losses. This campaign, the club had an 11th place finish with 12 wins, 10 draws, and 16 losses.
