Manolo González extends contract through to 2027
The coach signs a new deal with RCD Espanyol
RCD Espanyol and Manolo González have reached an agreement to extend the coach's contract through to June 30th, 2027. It extends his tenure at the club, which began in the summer of 2023 when he took charge of Espanyol B.
After an extensive career coaching in various leagues, González consolidates his position among the elite of professional football with this latest renewal. The length of the latest deal depends on a condition effective when the team secure top flight survival.
González took charge of Espanyol's first team in March 2024, replacing Luis Miguel Ramis. He made his debut in the dugout in a 1-0 victory against Real Zaragoza. That season, the team secured promotion to the Primera División in the playoffs, beating Real Oviedo in the final.
In the 2024/25 campaign, his debut in the top flight, he led the team to safety with a record of 11 wins, 9 draws and 18 losses (40 goals scored – 51 conceded).
