Lozano: "We're fully recharged"
The midfielder talks about preseason so far
The Espanyol squad begin a new week of preseason this Monday, in which the team will travel to Navata for a training camp and play their first friendly of the summer on Saturday against UE Olot.
One of the team's figureheads, Pol Lozano, is pleased with the summer so far.
“We’re fully recharged now. Last year was a very demanding season, and this year will be just as challenging. We’re very excited about this campaign," he said at the Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque.
"The feeling is good. We know the coach, and he’ll demand even more from us than last year. We’ve brought in some new players who will help us, and I think we can build something that can take us further up the table.”
The midfielder added that “We’re really looking forward to getting started, especially our LaLiga campaign. We’re eager to compete and to fight for the three points in every match. The goal is for us to be in good shape for the start of the season, and we’re working towards that.”
“We’ve had a very demanding week up to now. Today we started doing double sessions, and that's what preseason is for: To reinforce what we were already doing, as well as to learn concepts for the first LaLiga game back.”
Lozano analysed 2025/26 by saying: “Last year we started very well, and then what happened after that, happened. The reality of what we were was the same as at the beginning of the season, that we were a strong, competitive team. We have to get those feelings back and take another step forward with any new players who might come in -or with the new contributions the coach might bring.”
"Last season ended with two victories, against Athletic Club and Osasuna, which secured our survival and gave us the desire to continue believing that we were back to being the team we were at the beginning -and that we could beat any opponent at any time.”
