Lozano: "We have an exiting season ahead"

The captain speaks about preseason

Pol Lozano and the rest of the RCD Espanyol squad are reaching a crucial moment in preseason, as the friendly games provide an opportunity for the players to finetune their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

The midfielder acknowledges that "few real conclusions can be drawn, but the first friendly has to help us get ready for the start of LaLiga."

"We have an exciting season ahead, and we have the intention of continuing to take steps forward. We already saw that in the second half of last year, and a club like RCD Espanyol has to establish itself as a strong rival for any team in LaLiga. We have to take that step up to improve -both individually and as a team."

Next up is the Copa Catalunya final against Girona, and Lozano stated that "It's coming too soon for where we are in terms of our current pace, but it will be good for us because they're very demanding opponents -one we'll also face in La Liga. It will serve as a starting point for analysing them."

Finally, regarding the new additions to the squad, he noted, "There are many very young players who are coming in keen. Many of them haven't competed in the Primera División before, but they're very excited, they are training well, and they're very good players. We have to be patient. We're building a group, a very good team that will give us a lot."
