Koleosho and Riedel presented to the media
The pair give their first thoughts upon signing for RCD Espanyol
Luca Koleosho and Clemens Riedel had their official presentation together on Wednesday afternoon, after training with their teammates in the morning.
“I feel very good. I’m happy about this new opportunity. I want to win and I'm going to fight to win games. I know what this team deserve and where we want to go,” explained Koleosho, who joked that things have changed since his previous spell at RCD Espanyol.
“I’m 20 years old, so I'm not that young anymore,” he said, laughing. “But also I'm a more mature player. These years I've spent away have been good for me. I'm focused on improving every day to get into the starting XI and play more minutes. The pressure won't affect me. My decision to return was something I was very clear about,” he told the media.
Sporting Director, Fran Garagarza, commented that Koleosho “was an option that fit us perfectly. He's a player who had the chance to come back here, and his return has been quite a simple operation.”
Riedel, meanwhile, also expressed his “eagerness to get started. This is a project that excites me, and I'm eager to help the team and meet the Pericos."
The German defines himself as a combative player, "with a great mentality and eagerness to take responsibility. This is a good step for me in my career. It's a big club, with great fans and a great stadium. The manager has asked me to be strong defensively, with a strong mentality, to be myself and to give my all."
Garagarza noted that “We had 14 scouting reports on Clemens and have seen him in person several times. He's not just a player for today, but also for tomorrow. He's young, reliable, and full of personality. He's a player for the present and the future."
He also emphasised that his goal is "to have a solid squad for this match against Osasuna this weekend. What we want is stability, and that meant being mature this summer and avoiding the risks we took last year."
Finally, RCD Espanyol CEO Mao Ye stated that "We hope both Luka and Clemens will contribute a lot to us on the pitch and enjoy this season with us."
