Kike García: "We desperately need a victory"
The striker talks about the team's form
Kike García has the voice of experience in the RCD Espanyol dressing room, and is philosophical about what the team need to turn their recent results around.
"The team need to step up, as that the cushion of points we had over the relegation zone is slipping away. We haven't won all of 2026 and we desperately need a victory; Whether that comes with us playing well, badly, or getting some luck," he said on Wednesday after training.
"We're focused on the match against Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas, where we want to get all three points."
The striker asserted that "we have to make things happen in our favour, score goals, and be strong in both penalty areas. We have to take a step up, compete, and leave nothing to chance. We have to be more clinical and make fewer mistakes."
He also emphasised that, for him, every match until the end of the season "is circled in red on the calendar. They are all an opportunity to gain points. We are very close, but we haven't achieved our objective yet. It's taking longer than expected. We need one or two wins, and it's impossible to know for sure, but we are all aware of it, and the sooner we achieve it, the better."
