Hartman: "I'm delighted to be here"
The defender sets out his objective for his time at RCD Espanyol
Quilindschy Hartman's signing for RCD Espanyol on loan was confirmed on Tuesday, and on Wednesday the Dutch player spoke to the media at his official presentation.
'Monchi', the club's sporting director, explained that Hartman was "a name the club had already been working on. We spoke with the coaching staff and understood that he was a priority. Furthermore, the player himself had a very clear desire to come here. He's a player who fits what we wanted, a profile we needed. We'll try to help him adapt as quickly as possible. He's young and has a lot of room for growth."
The defender himself stated that "I'm delighted to be here. My first impression of the club is good. I know I'll need to adapt and I just hope the club can repeat the start of last season in the 2026/27 campaign."
Hartman understands that he will be replacing a key player from last season in Carlos Romero, and will use this as motivation.
"I want to try to replicate his level. I see it as something positive. Carlos did very well here, but I'll work to try to improve on what he did."
He also highlighted that he has spoken with Manolo González and that “it gave me a lot of confidence to know he wanted me here, so I’m delighted to be at the club.”
"My experience in the Premier League at Burnley has helped me grow. My personal objective now is to play a lot, play well, and help the team. I want to give my best. I can only promise that I will give 100%. I can’t promise a number of goals or assists, but I will give my absolute best.”
He affirms that, with his experience and his time with his national team, he understands that “it’s clear we have to fight to improve on last season’s position.”
